Meals on Wheels
Adults that are 50 years old or older are at an increased risk of having chronic health conditions such as diabetes or high blood pressure - conditions that can be alleviated by healthy eating, - but the rate of hunger experienced by seniors has only increased over the last two decades. If this trend continues, the number of seniors experiencing food insecurity could be over 8 million by 2050.
We have seen first hand in our own community that seniors living alone have more challenges getting to our Food Pantry than other families do. Beginning in 2021, we will be starting a Meals on Wheels program for those households in our area that are otherwise shut in their homes due to physical and other associated hinderances.
More information will be available soon on how to participate.
