After School & Summer Feeding Programs

Being hungry is something that affects people of every age. Children who experience hunger in their first three years of life are more likely to encounter developmental setbacks or impairments. The After School & Summer Feeding Programs are part of our partnership with Second Harvest of East Tennessee and their Summer Food for Kids program to provide every household with children with additional healthy food items to supplement school feeding programs.

Our After School Feeding program provides healthy snack items to families with children in their home. Whether that is fresh produce to have as a snack or an additional box of cereal to eat on the weekend, we want every child to have the privilege of not worrying about being hungry.

Our Summer Feeding program provides parents and guardians with additional healthy, easily prepared food for children in their household every week. This program was designed to meet the needs of households during the summer with children who would rely on school provided meals during the academic year. We are able to provide meals that consist of nutritious dairy, grains, and protein items to fulfill dietary needs for each child. This program allows us to provide enough items for every child to have two full, nutritious meals for five days of the week.

All families with children who visit the Food Pantry receive these items with no sign up or registration required.
